Recommended <br />Metal or vinyl siding may be used when it is the only feasible alternative. This siding should be <br />compatible with the original size and style and with the materials of other buildings in the district. <br />Prohibited <br />Inappropriate materials such as asbestos, asphalt, molded or artificial stone, or artificial brick <br />shall not be used. <br />- Not Recommended <br />Glass blocks should not be used. Concrete block should not be used for anything other than <br />foundations. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the addition and of the replacement windows. The rear addition to <br />the home is suited in both style and materials as well as scale to the original architecture of the <br />house. STAFF REPORTS <br />1. Correspondence -File Circulated <br />The HPC received a requested for landmark designation from St. Paul's Church <br />for a cemetery site in the county. C of A Approvals -Quarterly <br />3. Director's Report -Distributed <br />Commissioner Riley raised the matter of a staff approved C of A for a roof in the <br />1300 block of E. Wayne St N. Several Commissioners commented that they <br />were concerned that a C of A was issued for work that is not in kind that will <br />result in a significant and highly visible change to a property in a local historic <br />district. <br />Commissioners also voiced concerns that the approval could antagonize other <br />home owners that had to go before the HPC, when this petitioner did not. <br />12 <br />
