No changes may be made to the appearance of the site by removing major landscaping items, trees, fencing, <br />walkways, outbuildings or other elements before evaluating their importance to the property's history and <br />Jtvelopment. Front yard areas shall not be transformed into parking lots nor paved nor blacktopped. Front yard <br />as shall not be fenced and fences shall not extend forward beyond the setback line of the house. The <br />allation of unsightly devices such as television reception dishes and solar collectors shall not be permitted in <br />areas where they can be viewed from the public thoroughfare. <br />Not Recommended <br />Telephone or utility poles with high-intensity overhead lights should be installed so that they cannot be <br />seen from the thoroughfare. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval. The selection of the wooden fencing styles are <br />appropriate to the architecture of the house and will be located along the rear and sides of the house bordering <br />other fences. The Shetterly <br />house was built in 1908 as a rental property by J.L.M. Shetterly and Fred W. Keller. It was sold to Lucille and <br />kbeert P. Land in 1922. Mr. Lang was the City Attorney for Mishawaka. The house became and rental property <br />late 1920s until 1947 when it was sold to Mr. and Mrs. George Hoffman.
