JUL-10-2008 1.19EM GRUBB & ECUS NO. 8160 P. 3
Historic Preservation Commission
The Burnett C. Dmicr Trust with B. Patrick Bauer as Trustee, ovnis the property at the northwest
aoraerr of Cleveland Road/State Road 23 and Gurnwood in Granger, Indiarxa. Over 20 years ago, they
petitioned to have the historic home at 16021 Cleveland Road and the site containing approximately
260' frontage ou Cleveland Road/Staw Road 23 by 1326' frontage on Gurnwood declamd a historical
structure and historic site.
Some 25 years later we have seers significant commercial developmmt: ofthe immediate area and
continued traffic and development. eneroarWnS on the laud surrounding the Wsiorical Home.
The Burnett C, Bauer Trust: now would ask that the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bond
And St. Josoph County consider their request to relocate the historic hom, e at 16021 Cleveland Road
1320' north of Cleveland/State Road 23 to u new site immediately north of the existing land servicing
the Wsting home at 52725 Crumwood (see attached drawing). The historic home which presently
contains a law office and rutaal store would sit on the site measuring 90' f?ontage on Gurnwood and
260' depth (east and west). This now looation is presently zoned rosidcutial and may be usad as a
residence for Mr. Burnett C. Bauer and his daughter. Ata lager date, it maybe put uxto some office or
businous usage, as it is now being used, but they would then be required to rezone this 90' x 260'
parcel should they wish to ahango suoh usage. This now location, witlr as existing key number of 02-
20I7.0370.05 is psescatly zoned residential. I Have attached an email from the building Department
which shows that subject to your approval of this request and our ability to moot setb=6 and other•
code issues, we could relocate the hom to this new site,
We would make every reasonable, effort to place the home at least 100' west of the Gurnwood
frontage subject to codes and demands of the various governmental departments ucccssaty to permit
this relocation.
Finally, we would ask that yon consider relinquishing the historic site designation for the 260'
1.320' parcel.
We thank you in advance for your consideration of this request.
Respec*lly,
Burnett C. Dauer Trust
by: B. Patrick Bauer, Trustee
