South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting - June 6, 1997 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br />m. continued.... <br />Ms. Schwartz asked if arrangements <br />would be made to clear a sufficient space <br />for the helicopter to land. <br />Amy Tweeten stated that she talked with <br />a City of South Bend Police Officer and <br />the officer informed her that someone <br />would set up a barricade but didn't say <br />who that person would be. <br />Ms. Auburn stated that the "World's <br />Largest Garage Sale" and the "Sunburst" <br />will also take place on June 7 and she was <br />concerned for the public's safety with the <br />helicopter coming down to ground level. <br />Ms. Schwartz recommended that the staff <br />work with Riley Aviation and Phoenix <br />Co. to find an appropriate place, <br />preferably a place high up, to land the <br />helicopter. <br />Upon a motion by Ms. Schwartz, <br />seconded by Ms. Auburn and <br />unanimously carried, the Commission <br />denied Riley Aviation and Phoenix Co. <br />permission to land a helicopter in the <br />Shoppers' Lot located in the South Bend <br />Central Development Area, on June 7, <br />1997 due to concern for the public's <br />safety. <br />7.
