Jerry: I think that that would work all right. I think that that would be fine.
Todd: I have one last question regarding the painting -if you are finished with that line of
questioning. I guess that I am just curious, your COA is to do the paint, you know, on the
windows, your intention is to paint the window sash? Is that your understanding? And
how are you going to accomplish that in December?
Rom: We use, like I explained to Catherine and Amy, we have to pick and choose our
days. Right now, the longer we wait the harder it is for me. But if I have 32 degrees or
higher there is a paint at my paint distributor, UCT-United Coating Technologies, there is
a paint designed for cold weather. And it is an exterior paint and if I have 32 degrees or
warmer, I am safe to use this and it will adhere. And that is what I was explaining to
these guys, that time is of the essence, right now.
Tim: Is that a vinyl based paint?
Rom: A vinyl based paint? No, this is a oil-based paint.
Linda: Have you ever done it in that kind of weather?
Rom: Yes. We have been in business six years and we do this all day, every day.
Linda: And it lasts?
Rom: Yes, and the only time, when it gets to certain... like the snow's flying and it's
freezing and there is no way around it we, ah, we, like with the Section 8 properties,
problems occur then we get a Paint Waiver until the spring. And then as soon as spring
hits we have a half a dozen garages we gotta go and scrape `em all down and get `em
painted real quick and then they come and re -inspect. That's if it's a Section 8 home.
Most of the time we can get away with that, too, with the appraisals and the underwriters
understand the same situation.
Jerry: Linda, actually, actually, painting at a little bit lower temperature causes the paint
not to dry so fast, soaks into the wood a little farther and tends to hold longer.
Linda: Well do you use a primer?
Rom: No.
Tim: But also, Jerry, it closes up the pores of the wood and it doesn't allow any
penetration that way, too, so there's another...
Jerry: I know, I know, well, nothing is perfect.
Tim: No, it's not.
7
