Linda: How much are you going to take off before you put the siding on?
Rom: When we met over there the other day, Tim and I both come to the conclusion that
it would be a good idea to remove the asphalt siding to expose the old clapper board to
where when we put our new vinyl siding our J Trim will give it a more professional,
more aesthetic appeal, you know, with the J Trim butting up against the window trim
rather than kind of overlapping and then further causing us possible water damage or, you
know, such and so forth.
Linda: And what are you going to do about the siding that is already on?
Rom: Our vinyl siding? We will have to remove and salvage it and use it back in places
where we can; and that's a loss that we'll have to suffer, but we're Okay at this point.
And we had talked about rebuilding the drip -mold across the tops of the windows where
necessary as you can see in the pictures.
Tim: I had a brief question for staff. Based on the sampling areas are you satisfied with
the determination or conclusion that this original clapboard cannot be restored?
Catherine: Yes, there are just too many different variations on this house. There is the
original part of the house, there was the garage that was built, Lord only knows when, but
has been incorporated into the house, plus there was an addition put on the back of the
house with a completely different type of siding. What the vinyl siding will do, is just
basically, mimic the clapboard siding on the original part of the house and give the entire
house a more uniform look.
Todd: How are the corner boards to be handled, then? The corners?
Rom: Corner posts, vinyl corner posts.
Lynn: I have a question, based on what was discussed. It was my understanding that
there was going to be more of the asphalt taken off to evaluate. Have you taken off any
since the last meeting?
Rom: Yeah, when we had met out there we had exposed a pretty good area of it and seen
that it, we did it around a window, and it looks like years ago somebody had done
replacement windows before they put the asphalt siding on and that's been patched
together. It wasn't a very good look.
Catherine: There has been a lot of cobbling together with this house.
Rom: Yeah, and Wayne Doolittle had assessed that it had at least three additions. I
believe Tim agreed with us on that when we were looking at it and kind of found out
where we thought the original home was, and it ended
Jerry: About here.
