LP: That's why I need to come to the office and talk to Catherine and Amy. I've said before we
need to go over this more. Catherine's done a great job with this, as I know that these names
have come from a lot of different quarters. Some of these names were from our retreat, people
threw out a couple of names then and then periodically we've revisited this theme, more names
have been added, and its kind of morphed into what's in front of you now. I'll get with Catherine
and Amy and try to have something more substantive, and I'll also try to get a little background
on these people.
MC. It's the entire thing, because of how you make contact with those people.
LP: We haven't made any contact. What I'm thinking of doing, and I'll get with Catherine on
this, is just get some numbers, and make a phone call. You know? "Would you be interested?"
Just keep it very, ....
CH. I think that happens after the Commission decides who they want to .... we could even have
an A list and a B list and let it filter that way.
JU: Why does the Commission have to decide what these people would do? What the
parameters? What's the purpose? And then go out... we're getting the cart before the horse here.
CH: Well the parameters were, and I think that this was while you were out ill Jerry, that we...
JU We need to set it down on paper.
CH: It was, it was in the minutes. Basically, it was to get a group of experts to help the
Commission in areas where it doesn't have the expertise. Architects, designers, review people,
that sort of thing. The second item was, according to my understanding, to have a group of
people that would give the Commission guidance in the future as to where it should be looking for
its direction. We've got nine people here, nine different backgrounds, but you know, that's it. It
was also a means to broaden the net of the Commission to other area professionals who are
historians, and architects, and knowledgeable of and appreciative of historic preservation to help
the Commission in its goals of reaching out the communities.
JU: Put that on paper.
CH: It's on paper, Jerry.
JU: Well then you need to get it to us. Get it to us again; I'm not going to go digging around in
past minutes.
CH. Ok.
JU: Life is tough sometimes. There's a name that's obviously been left off of that list.
LP: And that is?
JU. • Our past President.
LP: I think that he was on the list, but he said that he was not interested.
JU: I don't know.
CH. • Our indication was that Mr. Oxian does not want to have anything to do with this
Commission as long as I am the Director.
JU: He told you that?
CH: He told Julie Schutte that.
JU: Maybe you ought to check that out.
MJC. And if anyone knows what skills these people have that would be helpful.
LP: You've given us a lot to noodle on here.
CH: If any of you know what these people do, please let us know. We were merely compiling this
list of names.
JS: If I could just stick one little thing here. Apparently none of sitting here submitted names, so
who are the people that did?
CH: Joann, you submitted a name to us, and that's on the list.
LP: I know Riverbend Blacksmiths have been at our last two awards banquets. There are subtle
differences in first and second generation drafts of the list. We'll come up with a thorough list ad
we'll date it. We'll comeback to this at the next meeting, if not sooner. I don't believe that there
are any committee meetings reports? Are there any CoA approvals, in house ones?
CH. • We'll do our quarterly report on those.
R
