Mary Jane Chase: Usually, there are more than one mausoleum per cemetery. Maybe, when I'm
thinking of a mausoleum, I'm talking about, maybe chapel is the word I'm looking for, that.... Is
there one in this?
John Peddycord: I don't know if there is one in Highland.
Bernard Diedrich: There is one in Highland where they have indoor ceremonies.
Mary Jane Chase: Is there one in Riverview?
John Peddycord: No.
Mary Jane Chase: So if the Riverview people want that they have to use the Highland one?
John Peddycord: Apparently, Yeah.
Mary Jane Chase: Because it could be used as a chapel. That would be, I mean, even looking at the
drive through ... it would be ideal.
Bernard Diedrich: The problem with that Madam is the economic basis. They already have a chapel
in Highland, so they don't need two chapels.
Mary Jane Chase:. Well, no that's what I asked. The chapel is in Highland. I have been to it many
times and I have never been to a service in Riverside that they...
Bernard Diedrich: I believe there is a mausoleum to the west, to the northwest. There is an interior
area where they can have a ceremony.
Catherine Hostetler: But there is no place to sit.
Mary Jane Chase: In the mausoleum, I'm sorry in the chapel on the Highland side, there is a place for,
the people to sit and to have a service ... what I am trying to find out, is there any on Riverside.
Diedrich: No ma'am, in the Highland, that is part of a mausoleum also.
Mary Jane Chase: So, is there are places for people to sit in Riverside?
Catherine: No,...
Mary Jane Chase: Anyway, that would be a very useful thing, wouldn't it. I think it would be
advantageous for a cemetery to have a chapel on the Riverside. So, I am suggesting that as a
possibility.
Bernard Diedrich: Mary Jane, I'm really not even sure how many gravesites are available at this time
in Riverside.
Mary Jane Chase: [muffled statements.]
John Peddycord: There are some plots, but most of the plots the cemetery owns are in Highland.
There's plenty of land in Highland, probably enough for the next fifty, seventy-five years. But limited
numbers in Riverview.
23 January 2006 HPC Meeting Minutes [Corrected Version]
18
