Has anyone made a motion? Shawn Peterson: We first need a motion to approve the improvements set forth in the CoA. Then, you can authorize staff to approve an action plan to deal with the midsection between the first and second floor. There are really two separate items. Lynn Patrick. Ok. Todd Zeiger: I'd make a motion to adopt the staff's findings and recommendations on CoA 2006 -0626 And make the motion approve the Certificate of Appropriateness as applied. Mary Jane Chase: Second. Catherine Hostetler: The home owner and contractor are present. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCEMISTORIC CONTEXT: This 1935 Tudor Revival House was owned by Hilda and Raymond E. Cloud. Raymond Cloud was co founder of Cloud Brothers, an electric appliance store located at 902 S. Michigan. Jeanette and Maurice Herman, owners of a women's apparel shop on South Michigan, also owned the house in the 1940s. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson purchased the house in 1987 from David Bowers. APPLICATION ITEMS: Add a 19'4 "x12' irregular shaped (see Construction PlanA1 and site plan) screened -in porch onto the back of the house. The porch will be on a concrete slab foundation. The porch roof and siding will match the roofing and siding on the main house. l RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval. The porch is being constructed off of a 15'x15' 1946 addition to the main house (See Assessor Card). The porch will tie in to the brick wall of the 1946 addition and the roof will tie in to that addition at the opening left by the removal of the air conditioner. All materials will match the house and compliment its design characteristics. The fabric of the original house will not be compromised. Catherine Hostetler: The home owner is here with the contractor, and they've provided the detailed drawings and pictures. Lynn Patrick. Ginna Anderson: Yes, good evening my name is Ginna Anderson, my husband and I are the owners of 1138 E Wayne Street, and I'm not sure if you have any further questions. I'd like to say that we really enjoy our home and love the neighborhood. We've taken great pains to restore our home, we just completed a complete remodeling of the first floor this past year, and the porch is the next step in our vision for what we'd like to do with the home. Our intention is to use like materials, 6x6 cedar posts, top portion of the home has cedar siding, and we intend to use that material as well on the top portion between the roof and the line of the windows.
