Directors Report
April 2006
In March all of the Staff members completed their questionnaires for the St.
Joseph County Job Classification and Compensation Study. The purpose is to
codify the jobs and pay scales according to types and responsibilities.
In April I met with the Mayor and presented him with a report concerning the
increasing amount of work the HPC and Commission Office handles for the City
of South Bend. This will be the first of regular quarterly meeting with the Mayor
to apprise him of our role in the City of South Bend.
We also attended meetings with the Engineering Department and the neighbors
in the Riverside Drive LHD concerning Shetterley Park and CSO #6 on April 12.
The meetings were very productive and resulted in a change. in the scope of the
project which will be more in keeping with the needs of the neighbors and the
preservation of Shetterley Park. There was also a meeting on April 5 concerning
the work on Lafayette /Leeper Park with the new sewer lines at NNN and this
projects impact on the neighborhood and the Park.
The Grant Reports on the four Grants that the Commission is administering were
submitted on a timely basis prior to the April 10 deadlines. The Grant
Acceptance letter and paper work on the new Grant for the Publication of the
City Survey was completed and mailed this week and prior to the May deadline.
The Southhold Awards Breakfast continued in its planning. The arrangements
were made for the flowers and the Awards ordered from PAC. Our guest
speaker was announced in the SBTribune and so were the requests for nominees
for the Awards. We currently have about 70 people coming- including
Commissioners who have not responded as of yet. Last year we had 125.
I attended the Career Fair at IUSB on March 24. There was considerable interest
in the position of Assistant Director by qualified candidates. We have sent out
job applications and have received 5 in return. We have also posted the job,
along with HFLI on the Ball State website for the School of Historic Preservation
and the Art Institute of Chicago. It is also being posted on the National Trust
Forum.
Contacted Karen Widlacki at AMC Mortgage Services to require Pam Colon
agent of Deb Thompson Real Estate to file a police report on the 4 missing clear
beveled/ leaded glass windows with a stained glass fleur de leis in the center of
each (three from a three sided front bay and a matching single window from the
side wall) from 612 Portage in the Chapin Park District.
