DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br />MAY 16, 2005 <br />May 3, 2005: The staff attended and participated in the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the <br />Leeper Park Island wall restoration. <br />May 4, 2005 I attended the Western Avenue Steering Committee meeting at the <br />invitation of Paul Hayden of Relics. There is interest is using a portion of the money <br />allocated to Western Avenue to rehab buildings the portion of Western near Relics. They <br />hope to create arts, bistro type enclave. <br />May 4, 2005 Julie and I met with Jim Embrickson for the due diligence survey on the <br />Second County Court House. The Southern most capital needs to be repaired. Indic <br />course of our meeting, Jim said that Cindy Bodle gave the go ahead for a Conference <br />Room for us. We had requested this space in our three-year CEDIT update for the <br />County Commissioners in January 2005. <br />May 5, 2005 Bob Yapp and Roger Dooley of the Mishawaka Preservation Commission <br />met to discuss a Mishawaka companion ordinance to our 8981-99, which makes landmarks <br />in the county annexed into the city, landmarks of the city. Roger thought that he would be <br />able to obtain approval of this concept with John Gleissner, city attorney in Mishawaka, in <br />a pre meeting before June 7, 2005. <br />May 9, 2005 Julie and I attended the Chapin Park Guideline Comrnittee meeting <br />concluding the revisions of the Guidelines. <br />May 11, 2005 I attended the meeting between the neighborhoods, The City and Memorial <br />concerning the construction projects and road and bridgework. The Leeper Park Bridge <br />reconstruction is now scheduled for 2006 as is the sewer and roadwork down Lafayette <br />Blvd from the intersection of Navarre into Leeper Park to the River. There will be some <br />sewer up grade work in Leeper, which will require COAs and also a proposed sidewalk <br />along the east edge of the Park and continuing the sidewalk along the north side of <br />Riverside, which would also require COAs. John Oxian and Mary Jane Chase were also in <br />attendance. I gave Gary Gilot a copy of the 1998 Leeper Park Study performed by the <br />Westerly Group for his use during this project. <br />May 14, 2005 Julie, Wayne and I participated in the Great Unveiling with Bob Yapp. <br />This is part of the agreement with HFLI for hands on workshops that the Cormnission has <br />authorized. HPC cover the cost of printing the booklets as well. We also retain any <br />surplus booklets for our use in the neighborhoods. <br />Throughout the month we worked with the Southhold Awards Committee preparing for <br />the Breakfast <br />
