Entrances, Porches and Steps (p.21) Most houses in the <br />396 district have either an open or enclosed porch across <br />397 the front. Most porches have either hip or gabled <br />398 roofs or are covered by the main roof of the house. <br />399 Required (p.21) <br />400 When deteriorated beyond repair, existing or original porches, stoops, <br />401 patios and steps, including handrails, balusters, columns, brackets, tiles <br />402 and roof decorations, shall be retained or replaced by replicas of the <br />403 same design or by one of a design, more in keeping with the historic <br />404 period of the structure. <br />405 Porches and additions reflecting later architectural styles and which are <br />406 important to the buildings historical integrity shall be retained. <br />407 Recommended (p.21) <br />408 It is recommended that when enclosing porches for heat conservation <br />409 or for other reasons, it be done in a manner that does not alter the <br />410 architectural or historical character of the building. <br />C� <br />
