JOANN SPORLEDER: If we make this a landmark; the whole site will in fact be a
landmark so we will be intimately involved with whatever they decide to do.
JOHN OXIAN: No, it depends on what you want to do.
JOANN SPORLEDER: We are only doing the barn; because, usually the landmarks go
with a legal description of the property in question. So if that is the case as it has been in
other cases then we would be quite involved with developers who want to not necessarily
tear down the structure; but put up items that would impinge upon it.
JULIE SCHUTTE: My understanding is that for them to build the three houses that
they want to build on that lot they would have to build a road to get the frontage in. I
don't know if they have actually gone forward with designing a road yet.
JOHN OXIAN: You can either do a legal description or you can go with what we have
done before; pick the specific building and mention that the building and the land that it
is located on will be the sole landmark and anything else around it is not. It depends on
how you want to describe it in the ordinance. In the county, that is what has happened in
the past. You can take either approach on this. I wouldn't take the legal approach
because I don't think we want to get involved with new houses or anything else; because,
it would make it very difficult to pass anything then. I think the only thing we should be
interested in is the barn and the site or the land on which it is located.
Further discussion was held between commission members regarding what further steps
need to be taken regarding the barn and the property located at 16977 Adams.
III. REGULAR BUSINESS
A. APPROVAL OF MINUTES —(March 21, 2005)
Due to a typo error on the agenda sheet, Lynn Patrick amends the agenda to reflect that
the minutes being presented are actually the minutes for April 18, 2005; not March 21,
2005.
MARTHA CHOITZ: I move that the minutes be accepted as printed.
DIANE WROBEL-ILLES: Seconds the motion and it passes unanimously. John Oxian
abstains.
B.
