CALLED MEETING TO ORDER
Lynn Patrick called the meeting to order at 7:37 pm.
There was a moment of silence for Mr. John Livingston who recently passed away in a
tragic car crash in Pennsylvania. He served this commission very well and was very
close to all of us.
LYNN PATRICK: I would like to move that the third reading for 16977 Adams
landmark 1880 barn be moved ahead on the meeting agenda. It is my understanding that
the person involved with this has to get back to work.
MARTHA CHOITZ: I so move.
MARY JANE CHASE: Seconds the motion and it passes unanimously.
TIM JANOWIAK: I live at 16930 Adams Road. There is a Civil War era barn at 16977
Adams Road. Unfortunately, the people that previously owned it had to sell it about five
years ago because of health conditions. They moved to Texas with their daughter. When
the previous owners sold the property they talked to a realtor by the name of James
Sieradzki, who owns Century Builders. He told them at that time that he was planning on
keeping the barn. The commission did a study on this property about ten years ago and it
states right on the report that he made this statement; but, that's not legally binding. The
previous owners told all of the neighbors that the barn was going to stay and that was
their assumption when sold it. We have been out talking to people and we have gotten an
overwhelming response. I would say that we have just a hair under 650 signatures on a
petition and that's just since last Friday. We have letters coming in from as far away as
Alaska, Oregon, Washington, and Texas. All of the people who knew this barn and lived
near this barn want to help support it and do whatever they can. The bam was built about
1865. It was built with hand -hewn beams held together with wooden pegs. The nails
1
