JULIE SCHUTTE: (See staff report, pictures, and drawings attached to C of A in
meeting binder). The contractor, Brad Pontius, was present on behalf of the
homeowners, Shannon and Bill Brewster.
LYNN PATRICK: Under application items it says the computer "drawings" do not
show the gable returns, which will be included in the new construction. Then under the
recommendation it says the contractor and homeowner may wish to incorporate the reuse
of the two windows and gable returns in the new construction.
JULIE SCHUTTE: On the rear of the house there are existing gable returns, which they
may be able to salvage and reuse on the exterior of the house.
JOHN OXIAN: If I am going to approve this C of A then I want the two windows to be
used. If you are going to make it look like the original then the original windows need to
be put back in.
BRAD PONTIUS: (owner /contractor of Home Works) I see no problem with reusing
the two original windows.
JOHN OXIAN: I will make a motion that C of A 2005 -0707 for 930 Riverside Drive be
approved with the condition that the two windows and the gable return trim that are being
removed be reincorporated in the new addition.
MARY JANE CHASE: Seconds the motion and it passes unanimously, 5 -0.
LYNN PATRICK: Joann, prior to your arrival we acted as a committee of the whole to
start the meeting. We moved to approve the first application for the owner to put a notch
in his front porch roof to accommodate his tree. All the other commission members were
in favor of this.
JOHN OXIAN: I will make a motion to go back as a regular meeting.
MARY JANE CHASE: Seconds the motion and it passes unanimously.
JOHN OXIAN: I will also make a motion that we approve CoA 2005 -0620 with the
approval by Joann Sporleder.
JOANN SPORLEDER: Actually, I don't approve of making a notch in the roof; so I
will abstain. The earlier motion for C of A 2005 -0620 still carries and the C of A is
approved. John Livingston gave the opinion that C of A 2005 -0707 had been
approved by the Commission as all five members had voted.
B. LANDMARK
1. Third Reading: 16977 Adams Landmark 1880 Barn
Report from the Landmarks Committee Chair
JOHN OXIAN: We are supposed to have a meeting on this. If the committee doesn't
meet then I will have a recommendation at next month's meeting on what we will send
down on 16977 Adams Road.
JOHN LIVINGSTON: Mr. Hardig, (attorney), is ready and willing to attend the
meeting on behalf of the homeowners. Catherine called me on Friday and told me the
meeting was going to be this Wednesday at 5:00 pm at the HPC office.
JOHN OXIAN: I would also like to put for a first reading in September the
Greenhouses and Conservatories in Potowatomi Park. I have received emails and I have
also received telephone calls on this. I don't know if we have received that information
yet from the woman who was here last month or not.
JULIE SCHUTTE: No, we have not.
