John Oxian also stated that there were three unique things about this house that he
presented the last time.
They are as follows:
1. The time period of the house.
2. It is the only brick house in that neighborhood of that style.
3. The stones that were used to construct the front porch. There is no other house in
that area except the one kitty comer down the street; which is a duplex and has
been aluminum sided.
Lynn Patrick suggested that both Mr. Livingston and John Oxian should go to code
enforcement together and talk with Catherine Brucker. I think that there is something
about that house and about John's life -long association with properties all over town.
This house is calling out to John, and I respect his extensive experience and judgment and
don't feel that I could second guess that. If the owner is amenable to it; then land
marking the house is not going to hurt it; it might even help it. I think we should move
on from here. If this is important to our past president; then it is important to me too.
V. NEW BUSINESS
VI. HEARING OF VISITORS
Don Sporleder was happy to report that they were able to save the Erskine Golf Course.
He also reported that they were having some success in trying to save the University Club
on the Notre Dame Campus. The University Club has received a masonry award, which
he hopes will give their views more visibility.
VII. ANNOUNCEMENTS AND MISCELLANEOUS
Martha Choitz stated that they will be having a dinner to honor Mr. Reid Williamson for
all of the work he has done for HLFI. The dinner will be held on April 30` at one of the
theaters in downtown Indianapolis. There will also be other activities as well.
VIII. ADJOURNMENT
Catherine Hostetler makes a motion to adjourn. Lynn Patrick seconds the motion and it
passes unanimously.
Meeting adjourned at 8:28 pm.
Historic Preservation Commission
Minutes: March 21, 2005
ATTEST: . Secretary
0
