issue, 2002 C of A.
JULIE SCHUTTE: Gerry Ujdak and Wayne Doolittle both drove through the district and mentioned that
the house located at 1158 Lincolnway East is vacant and is currently up for auction on April 3rd. Staff is
currently working on a letter to send to the auctioneer to notify him that this house is in an historic district
and what the district standards are.
JOHN OXIAN: Who is the auctioneer?
GERRY UJDAK: Haines. I spoke with him and he told me that it was a foreclosure or bankruptcy.
JULIE SCHUTTE: Also in the district, the window that is boarded up at 1402-1404 Lincolnway East is
still covered with plywood. There have been some repairs made to the barn/carriage house at 1202
Lincolnway East, which Wayne Doolittle took photos of. They have also replaced the siding on the barn.
3. Correspondence.
JULIE SCHUTTE: We received word that they are going to have public hearings about the US 31 project.
They have published the draft environmental impact statement, and we have a full copy of it in our office.
A public hearing is going to be held this Thursday, at 1:00 at the old Lakeville School, and then again at
7:00 pm at LaVille Jr/Sr High School on US 31. The doors will open at 6:00 pm for that meeting.
They have narrowed down the routes for US 31 to three: ES, CS, and GC.
John Oxian requested that Julie Schutte and Wayne Doolittle attend this meeting.
4. Legal Report: Chapin Park proposed local historic district.
4
JOHN LIVINGSTON: I have been working with Aladean to get her approval of the ordinance that we want
passed so that we can submit it. Right now Julie is working on the names of the people that we have to
notify.
IV. OLD BUSINESS '
1. Eddy Street road widening; affect on East Washington National ,
Register Historic District; request opinion.
JULIE SCHUTTE: There is a letter in your packets about the Eddy Street road widening project from the
Troyer Group. Staff was wondering what the commission's position was in terms of this project.
The commission briefly discussed what their position was regarding the road widening project.
Commission members stated that they were opposing the removal of the bungalow that is located at 1028
Colfax. Julie Schutte made a note of the commission's position regarding this project and plans to inform
the Troyer Group accordingly.
2. Committee Appointments
JULIE SCHUTTE: In your meeting packets there is also a list of the committee appointments.
V. NEW BUSINESS
1.
