Ms. Anderson also proposes to plant a maple tree in the tree lawn along Lincolnway West in front of _
building and included flowers on her application. I
RECOMMENDATION
The property now has gravel spread in the side yard with areas of broken pavement and sidewalk. A more
regularized and lined parking area in the place of the existing gravel and broken concrete would improve
the appearance of the site and perhaps draw more business and tenants to this Landmark building. The
paved parking area and the shallow drainage basins will not affect any landscape feature or structure of
significant historic value to this property. The parking area and the drainage basins use the space
appropriately given the commercial nature of the building. Staff finds the planting of a tree in the tree
lawn also appropriate to the property. As flowers, in general, are temporary landscape features Ms.
Anderson may go forward with planting them; however, if more permanent flower beds and landscape
features are desired a landscape plashould be presented for the Commission's review.
Staff recommends approval of the removal of broken areas o avement, the installation of an
asphalt parking lot on the eastern side of the property and tlecessary drai wells, and the
excavation of two shallow retention basins. Staff recommends approval of boilr'tages o e paving
of the parking lot based on Greg Kil's site plan. Staff also recommends approval for tlanting
of a maple tree in the property's tree lawn on Lincolnway West and recommends including the
07approval of future planting of additional trees in the tree lawn with this Certificate.
