Describe Affected Historical Properties There are four Local Historic Landmarks within the APE of this project: (1) the Angela Street Bridge, (2) the railroad trestle bridge alongside the Angela Bridge, (3) the Darden Street Bridge, and (4) the old Waste Water Compressor Building and Administration Building at 3112 and 3113 Riverside Drive, which were built in 1955 in the Art Moderne style. The Compressor and Administration Buildings are eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historical Places because of their architectural merit, cultural significance, and educational value. 4. Describe the Undertaking's effects on Historic Properties There will be no adverse effects on any of the historic properties within the APE of the project. 6. Summary of Consulting Parties and Public Reviews Based on the results of the archaeological field reconnaissance report, there were no historic buildings, structures, districts, objects, or archaeological resources found within the project APE. The Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana surveyed the project area and found no historic properties affected. However, the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. Joseph County reviewed the documents and concluded that there were four Local Historic Landmarks along the trail. After further review and by unanimous vote of the commission, it was decided that the proposed Riverside Trail will have no adverse affect or impact on any of the four adjacent landmarks or the local historic district. Certificates of Appropriateness will be required for any work that will touch the landmarks themselves or any landscaping that will be added within the yard of the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
