FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION'S <br />SECTION 106 FINDINGS AND DETERMINATIONS <br />AREA OF POTENTIAL EFFECT <br />ELIGIBILITY DETERMINATIONS <br />EFFECT FINDING <br />South Bend Riverside Trail <br />DES. NO.: 0100830 <br />AREA OF POTENTIAL EFFECT <br />(Pursuant to 36 CFR Section 800.4(a)(1)) <br />The Area of Potential Effect (APE) for the South Bend Riverside Trail project is the area within <br />the west side of Riverside Drive and the west bank of the St. Joseph River beginning at the <br />intersection of Riverside Drive and Angela Boulevard and ending at the intersection of Riverside <br />Drive and Darden Road (see attached map). <br />ELIGIBILITY DETERMINATIONS <br />(Pursuant to 36 CFR 800.4(c)(2)) <br />There are four Local Historic Landmarks within the APE of this project: (1) the Angela Street <br />Bridge, (2) the railroad trestle bridge alongside the Angela Bridge, (3) the Darden Street Bridge, <br />and (4) the old Waste Water Compressor Building and Administration Building at 3112 and 3113 <br />Riverside Drive, which were built in 1955 in the Art Moderne style. The Compressor and <br />Administration Buildings are eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historical Places <br />because of their architectural merit, cultural significance, and educational value. <br />EFFECT FINDING <br />(Pursuant to 36 CFR 800.5(d)(1)) <br />No adverse effects. <br />Consulting parties will be provided a copy o€ FHWA's findings and determinations in accordance <br />with FWHA's Section 106.p_rocedures.
