Jefferson
South Bend, IN 46601
Re: 411 W. North Shore Drive
Dear Karen,
I'm writing to amend my recent application for a Certificate of Appropriateness. The
application proposes a dormer on the back of my house which now appears not to be financially
feasible.
The purpose of the dormer was to provide some head room at the top of the attic stairs.
Instead of the dormer, I now seek approval of a more modest means of achieving the same result:
installation of a 44 3/4" x 46 3/8" skylight at the top of the stairs. As indicated on the attached
drawing, the new skylight will be located approximately six feet east of the easternmost existing
skylight in a valley that is nearly invisible from the ground. The new skylight will have the same
finish as the existing skylights. It will be mounted on a curb that will be covered with black
asphalt shingle material to blend in with the roof.
I enclose a Velux catalogue. We propose to install the Velux Model TPS Roof Window,
#606 (see page 25).
As I mentioned on the telephone, we still wish to remove the damaged bush discussed in
our earlier application.
Please let me know whether you need any additional information. My phone numbers
are (work) 631-4863 and (home) 287-1142. Thanks in advance for your help.
Y r s' cerely,
Bo nes
cc: David Sassano
Ed Hinz
