JOHN OXIAN: I will assign that this be put into the Historic Districts Committee.
V. NEW BUSINESS
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: The deadline as you folks probably know, for
transferring money between line items on the budget passed November W'. Going with
the information that we had available to us at that time I requested a transfer of
$10,000.00 from the assistant director's salary to contractual services. I requested a
transfer of $3050.00 from the auto lease line item to printing and $1160.00 from
telephone to printing. This is because we obviously didn't use money budgeted for
assistant director, auto lease, and telephone, or at least didn't use as much as we had
expected. If we move the money into contractual services and printing there are lots of
uses we can use the money for.
JOHN OXIAN: Are there any objections to the transfer? Other years we haven't had to
do this, but since we have had trouble with this once before in the past I would rather do
it this way instead. So, if there are no objections then this will also go before the County
Council.
Even though the county puts the $25,000.00 dollars we get from the city under the
assistant director's position; it does not come from the city to the county specifically to
be put under the assistant director's position; but, we always put it there because that's
usually the biggest expense. But, if we don't use it for an assistant director's position the
city does allow us within the county budget to transfer this money around to fill other
requirements.
GERALD UJDAK: I will make a motion regarding the transfer of funds from one line
item to another as indicated by our director.
MARTHA CHOITZ: Seconds the motion and the motion carries unanimously.
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: We have a section 106 consultation regarding St. Joseph
County bridge number 112 which is essentially a little bridge over a drainage ditch. I
believe it was built less than fifty years ago, and is not historically significant.
Commission members were in agreement that the bridge and culvert/drainage ditch were
not historically significant.
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: Requested approval from the Commission to pay for the
printing of a six page two-color newsletter covering all of the HPC events for 2002, and
seeking liaison volunteers or nominations.
JOHN OXIAN: Stated that he had reviewed this and he believed it was appropriate.
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: We are still awaiting the latest Army Corp of Engineers
Report on Leeper Park
