3. To repave the area between the driveway, front walk, and service door.
There is a photo attached that shows the small area. It's presently paved with
brick. The proposal is to repave it with concrete stamped in a brick pattern. Staff
recommends approval of the application to repave and staff has no opinion as to whether
the brick pattern needs to be retained or whether it could simply be plain concrete.
4. Remove cement slab and adjacent overgrown brick area in backyard.
Repave a 16x24 -foot patio area that will have a border of stamped concrete that
looks like brick around the perimeter. Install a basketball hoop at the furthest end
of the house. This would have little or no visual impact from the street. Staff
recommends approval, conditional upon the previous paving material being removed.
Pursuant to good construction practices before the new paving material is installed.
5. Repouring curbs.
I understand this to be an in-kind renovation, and recommend approval.
6. Move an existing hedge.
The hedge is to be moved back from the corner of the yard and driveway, and
replace the existing wire fence with a similar style fence in the new location. Hence,
reinforces the hedge. This proposal was motivated by safety concerns to entering
Twyckenham from the driveway. Staff recommends approval.
7. Other landscaping.
The homeowners propose to hire a local landscape designer to design and
install other landscaping. Staff understands that the plans in view would involve adding
or moving flora; but, would not involve removing any significant trees or shrubbery.
Therefore, staff recommends approval.
Discussion was held by staff in regards to the pictures that were taken of the bushes at the
above stated property.
JOHN OXIAN: What we will do is take each one of these one at a time.
NANCY ICKLER: I have a couple of amendment off of what Karen says.
JOHN OXIAN: Before you speak I want you to give your name and address. That is the
way we are going to do it from now on.
NANCY ICKLER: My address is 1430 East Wayne Street.
JOHN OXIAN: We will go to number one now.
