Okay, then we will close the public portion of this discussion and open it to the
Commission for any comments or questions.
JOHN OXIAN: The staff still recommends that this building be declared a local
landmark; it is too significant both architecturally and historically. Eliminating a
building of this stature for green space is a total waste of money and disregards the
interest of the public in this area.
MARY JANE CHASE: What is the estimate of demolition cost and conversion to
green space? What is the Schools future plan for this sight?
FRED STUMP: The estimate for demolition of the building is approximately
$350,000.00 with an additional cost of $60,000.00 to $80,000.00 for sprinklers and
seeding. The projected future use is unknown but the board wishes to keep this option
open.
RICHARD HELMUS: I move to approve the landmarking of 2716 Vine Street, ,
Old Nuner School and send it to the Common Council with a favorable recommendation.
MARTHA CHOITZ: I second the motion.
After due consideration, the following action was taken:
Upon a motion by Richard Helmus, being seconded by Martha Choitz and carried
unanimously, proposed local landmark 2716 Vine Street be sent to the Common Council
with a favorable recommendation.
II.
