the Common Council for designation as a Local Landmark by the Historic Preservation <br />Commission. <br />The building and site meet three of the criteria. <br />1) Its character, interest, or value as part of the development, heritage, or culture of <br />the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, the State of Indiana, or the United <br />States of America; <br />2) Its embodiment of elements or architectural design, detail, material or <br />craftsmanship which represents an architectural characteristic or innovation; <br />3) Its suitability for preservation. <br />The site and structure fulfill criteria #1 as an example of how this city expanded over the <br />years and the influence of immigrants in South Bend. <br />The site and structure fulfill criteria #2 as a Renaissance Revival style school building. <br />This structure is rated a C/10 in the Indiana Historic Sites and Structures Inventory; <br />however, this rating is low and can be re -rated to an S/11 or S/12. <br />The site and structure fulfill criteria #3 with its integrity of original construction with no <br />significant alterations in the past $4 years. <br />Wi <br />
