As a result of these
conversations the staff is recommending that the replacement windows be full size,
32"03", solid vinyl, double -hung, with six over six mutin division. To solve the ceiling
exposure problem the top'/4 of the windows would be treated or frosted so that the ceiling
would not be visible from the outside. The staff is also recommending that the wood
surrounds be retained or replaced in-kind where needed and left exposed. In addition at
least one of the original wood storms should be retained and stored for future owners.
The contractor has assured me that installing full size windows will not cost anymore
then the windows originally applied for by the owner, he has also stated to me that his
company will install the six over six mutin pattern for free. The owner's son, Michael
Leslie is present as is John Clark from Nu Sash.

JOHN CLARK: What we were, proposing to do is replace the original windows
which are in very bad shape with new custom, virgin vinyl, double -hung windows with
the trim wrapped. The trim can remain wood if desired, we are recommending that the
inside of the top row of mutins be coated on the inside with an opaque or tinted solar
control film to cover the interior drop ceiling. We are also recommending the use of heat
mirrors for reflecting radiant heat.

JOHN OXIAN: I suggest that the Commission continue its recommendations that
the existing wood trim be left exposed and that at least one of the existing wood storms
be stored for the future.

RICHARD HELMUS: I move to approve application 2001-0102 as presented by
the staff with the use of 32"x73", solid vinyl replacement windows, with six over six
mutin division, the top'/4 of the windows treated or coated to obscure the dropped ceiling,
the wood trim be repaired and left exposed and that at least one wood storm be stored for
the future.

MARY JANE CHASE: I second the motion.

After due consideration, the following action was taken:
