issue. Mr. Kil is here to answer any questions the Commission has regarding this project.
As a footnote the applicant is asking for the installation of a fire door, which will
automatically require the owner to address the parking lot issue.

CHERYL GREENE: The Commission is bound by the scope of your area of
responsibility, which is historic preservation.

JOHN OXIAN: What is the applicant asking for in the Certificate of
Appropriateness application?

RHONDA SAUNDERS: The applicant is requesting the installation of a fire exit
door on the west elevation.

JOHN OXIAN: The presentation submitted by Greg Kil and the applicant, Ms.
Anderson includes window and site alterations. If those are not on the application then
the Commission cannot act on those issues.

CHERYL GREENE: The only thing that has been applied for is the fire escape
door. If you want the Commission to review any other alteration it will have to be
submitted on a separate application. However, if you would like to make a presentation
to explain an entire project that is acceptable, but understand that the Commission can
only review the request for the fire door.

GREG KIL: Ms. Anderson came to Kil and Associates in 1998 to do a study of
her building at 1636 Lincolnway West. Since then the owner has decided to convert the
second floor into an assembly hall, which will require a second form or egress among
other alterations. The State has given approval with the following requirements;
lowering of the sills on two north side windows, installation of a fire door in the west
fagade and alterations to the parking lot.

Last Thursday the Zoning and Appeals Board gave permission for the required additional
parking, curb cuts, surfacing and appropriate lighting.

1 was not involved with Ms. Anderson in her first application for the door.

J. EDWARD TALLEY: The staff believes the location of the egress door is
different then originally submitted.

RHONDA SAUNDERS: When I first discussed this issue with the contractor he
indicated that the door would be placed in the last glass storefront panel.

GREG KIL: The door would actually be located where the green overhead door
currently exists.

JOHN OXIAN: Would you like the Commission to place the remaining issues into
the Standards and Maintenance Committee for review?
