MINUTES OF THE <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />MONTHLY MEETING <br />Committee Meeting <br />7:30 p.m. <br />Monday, December 20, 1999 <br />Mar -Main Arms Apartment Bldg. <br />West Wing Sitting Room <br />I. Call to Order <br />John Oxian, president of the Commission, brought the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Commission members present were: John Oxian, Martha Choitz, Jerry Weiner, Catherine <br />Hostetler, Joan Sporleder, Richard Helmus and Gerald Ujdak. <br />Commission staff present were: Ed Talley, Director, Rhonda Saunders, Assistant Director and <br />Aladean DeRose, Council. <br />Also attending the meeting were: Timothy Lykowski, Dan Bernth, Allan Bernth, Gordon Etzler <br />and Don Sporleder. <br />III. Public Hearing <br />A. Certificate of Appropriateness Applications <br />B. 1. 1999-1108-1012 Riverside Drive, French doors and garage door. <br />Mr. Talley presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He also noted that the owner <br />was not present. Mrs. Hostetler moved to approve the application as recommended by staff. <br />Mr. Oxian asked if the existing garage door is original to the house. Mr. Talley stated that the <br />Staff is under the impression that the current door is not original. Mr. Weiner seconded the <br />motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />2. 1999-1117-1142 Lincolnway East, windows and siding. <br />Mr. Talley presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He also noted that the owner, <br />Dan Bernth, was present. Mr. Bernth stated that the deterioration of the clap board siding was <br />caused by a hole in the roof where the front gable meets the small second story addition. He <br />further noted that he has since removed the roofing, replaced the rotted decking and re -roofed <br />the entire house. Mr. Oxian stated that since the application contained too many unanswered <br />questions and problems the application would be placed into the Standards and Maintenance <br />Committee. Mr. Talley noted that the Committee would work with Mr. Bernth in solving <br />various issues, allowing the Commission and owner to come to a satisfactory compromise. <br />
