Ms. Kolata <br />responded that she was not sure if he had. <br />Ms. Auburn suggested that this be tabled <br />until the next meeting in order to give <br />additional time for review of the <br />Agreement. <br />There being no objection, item 6.1. was ITEM 61. WAS TABLED <br />tabled. <br />7. PROGRESS REPORTS <br />Ms. Kolata noted that Ms. Auburn and she <br />were invited to a ceremony to be presented <br />with a thank you award for allowing United <br />Way to use the Palais Royale Ballroom last <br />fall to kick off their 1996 campaign. She <br />presented Ms. Auburn with the Thank You. <br />Carter Wolf asked permission to speak with <br />the Commissioners. <br />He made the following statement: The end of <br />March would have marked my 10th year as <br />CCA 's Executive Director. It is hard to <br />believe until I look back at the many changes <br />in our downtown. In 1987 there were two <br />empty department stores, a 45% vacancy in <br />the retail storefronts, very little nightlife and <br />a dying East Bank area There were <br />numerous eyesores like the Christman <br />Building (Main Street Row) and the Opelika <br />H:\ HOME \CPHWPS \WPDATA \COMMSN\020797.MIN -14- <br />
