RECOMMENDATION
5. The owner proposes to install two condenser units in the rear of the house. The staff
recommends approval of the installation of two condenser units in the rear yard, set behind the
bushes seen in picture number four.
6. The owner proposes to run electrical conduit and condensate line from the basement up the
rear exterior to the attic. They will hide the lines by covering them with a wood box painted to
match the siding which will be hidden behind the existing downspout. The staff finds the
proposed installation of conduit, condensate line and cover box to be acceptable and
recommends approval.
7. The owner proposes to install gable end vent fans with lowered gable vent intakes in all of
the peeks. The contractor has assured the staff that the proposed vents will be roughly half the
size of the one in picture 10. The staff recommends approval of the installation of the vents in
the two gables with brown siding. The staff does not recommend approval of installation of the
vents in the front gable or the lower east side gable, both, of which contain stucco and half
timbers. In order to install the vents a portion of the half timbers would either have to be
removed or covered over, thus, altering a significant stylistic detail of the house. Specifically
the lower gable on the east side of the house has a wood carving or finial located at the very
peak of the gable, see photo number 13. The staff feels that the owner may be able to work out
a compromise for the front gable, but, does not believe a vent can be installed into the lower
east gable without removing significant details.
0
