PROPOSED CHANGE(S)
The Applicant wishes to remove nine windows and replace them with custom Pella
windows.
REFERENCE TO GOVERNING STANDARDS:
Restoration: Rehabilitation:
The Preservation Guidelines for East Wavne street Local Historic District:
b)... The Guidelines for the East Wayne Street District follow the Rehabilitation Model...
II. Existing Structure
C. Windows and Doors
II.C. Prohibited
Original doors, windows and hardware shall not be discarded when they can be restored and re-
used in place. Inappropriate new window and door features such as aluminum insulating glass
combinations that require removal of the original windows and doors shall not be installed.
RECOMMENDATION
The owner is proposing to replace nine windows through out the home with Pella
aluminum clad, double hung, insulated glass windows that a previous owner had begun to
install, without a Certificate of Appropriateness. The present owner wants to use the same
windows (see photos) with muttin patterns that will match the originals. The staff finds the
replacement windows to be acceptable as long as the muttin patterns match the originals,
including the attic windows which have a division of six, the staff recommends approval.
2
