PROPOSED CHANGE(S) <br />The Applicant wishes to install a six foot, Homestead, style wood privacy fence around <br />the back yard. <br />REFERENCE TO GOVERNING STANDARDS: <br />Restoration: Rehabilitation: <br />The Preservation Guidelines for River Bend Local Historic District: <br />b)... The Guidelines for the River Bend Historic District follow the Rehabilitation Model... <br />I. Environment <br />A. The District Environment <br />Required <br />New plant materials, fencing ... shall be compatible with the character of the neighborhood in <br />size, scale, material and color. <br />Prohibited <br />Signs, streetlights ... fencing ... which are out of scale or inappropriate to the neighborhood may <br />not be used. <br />I.B. Building Site, Landscaping & Accessories <br />Recommended <br />New site work should be appropriate to existing surrounding site elements in scale, type and <br />appearance. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The owner is proposing to install a six foot tall, wood privacy fence around the <br />backyard to give added safety and security for their small children. The staff finds the proposed <br />tence to be unobtrusive and in a style that is compatible with similar fences located throughout <br />the River Bend Local Historic District, thus, the staff recommends approval of the application <br />as submitted. <br />
