Mrs. Gallagher moved to approve the replacement of the kitchen window as proposed with the
stipulation that the sill and casing of the original window be reused and that the sash be retained
- for future owners. Mrs. Choitz seconded the motion. Mr. Oxian asked if there were an
questions. Mr. Zmyslo asked if the Commission should try to retain the double hung style
window. Mr. Van Overberghe stated that the reason for the casement window is because the
window is located over a sink and a casement is much easier to operate in such situations. He
further stated that the casing and sill of the original window would be reused in the installation
of the new casement window. He went on to ask if Commission wants him to save the sash or
the whole window. Mr. Oxian stated that if the original casing and sill is reused then just the
sash would have to be saved. Mr. Zmyslo asked if the six over six mutin pattern could be
replicated in a casement window. Mr. Van Overberghe stated that any mutin pattern is most
likely possible for a price. There was some discussion over proportions of a casement window
that would replicate the six over six pattern. Mr. Zmyslo stated that the motion should be
altered to require that the window be replaced with a six over six double hung window. Mrs.
Sporleder interjected that the option of a six over six casement window should be explored
further as an alternate option to the double hung. Mr. Van Overberghe stated that a six over six
mutin pattern in a casement window is a possibility. Mrs. Gallagher withdrew her motion. Mr.
Zmyslo moved to approve the replacement of the west elevation, kitchen window with a six
over six mutin pattern, double hung window, with the stipulation that the original casing and sill
be reused and the original sash be saved for future owners. Mrs. Gallagher seconded the
motion. The motion passed with Mrs. Sporleder voting against the motion. There was some
discussion over the other two windows being requested for replacement. Mr. Fine moved to
approve the installation of a 3 1/2" x 12" range vent next to the kitchen window with the
stipulation that it be painted to match the siding. Mr. Weiner seconded the motion. The motion
passed unanimously. Mr. Talley presented the staff report that corresponded to the remaining
window replacements. He went on to ask Mr. Van Overberghe what type of window the two
units would be replaced with. Mr. Van Overberghe stated that the owner was requesting to
replace the windows with casements, but, is not against replacing the east elevation double hung
window with a double hung window. Mr. Zmyslo moved to approve the replacement of the
second floor double hung window located in the east gable with a matching mutin patterned,
double hunge window and replacement of the south second story elevation casement window
with a casement window that contains a special mutin pattern to simulate the existing window
and storm window. With the stipulation that the original casings and sills be re -used if possible.
There was some discussion to clearify which windows were being discussed. Mrs. Gallagher
seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Talley presented the staff report
which corresponded to two air conditioning condensor units. Mr. Oxian moved to approve the
installation of the two air conditioning condensor units. Mr. Weiner seconded the motion. The
motion passed unanimously. Mr. Talley presented the staff recommendation for the proposed
wiring and lines to be located along the rear of the house. Mr. Oxian moved to approve item
number six as recommended by staff. Mrs. Choitz asked if the owner was installing air
conditioning. Mr. Van Overberghe stated that the owner was indeed installing air conditioning.
Mrs. Hostetler seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
k3
