PROPOSED CHANGE(S) <br />The Applicant wishes to replace three large floor to ceiling, single pane storm windows <br />and screens located on the west side of the rear summer porch with a sliding glass door. <br />REFERENCE TO GOVERNING STANDARDS: <br />Restoration: Rehabilitation: <br />The Preservation Guidelines for East Wavne street Local Historic District: <br />b)... The Guidelines for the East Wayne Street Historic District follow the Rehabilitation <br />Model... <br />II. Existing Structure <br />H.C. Windows and Doors <br />Prohibited <br />Original doors, windows and hardware shall not be discarded when they can be restored and re- <br />used in place. New window or door openings which would alter the scale and proportion of the <br />building should not be introduced. <br />H.D. Entrances Porches and Steps <br />Recommended <br />When enclosing porches for heat conservation or for other reasons, it should be done in a <br />manner that does not alter the architectural or historical character of the building. <br />Prohibited <br />Front porches, stoops, patios and steps that are important to the building's style and <br />development shall not be altered or removed. <br />IRDWI]11►AiDQMAW$ <br />The owner is proposing to remove three existing floor to ceiling windows located in the <br />west side summer porch with sliding glass doors. The existing windows are separated by two <br />one inch wide slates and each window has a light division of six. The new sliding glass door <br />will have two fixed panels one on the right and one on the left each containing a light division <br />of six. The middle door will slide and also have a light division of six. The new door will not <br />increase or decrease the size of the existing window opening and the door will replicate the <br />existing windows in light division and style. The staff recommends approval of the proposed <br />sliding glass door. <br />
