MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />of the <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />Monthly Meeting <br />7:30 p.m. <br />Monday, March 15, 1999 <br />County Commissioner's <br />Conference Room <br />7th Floor County -City Building <br />I. Call to Order <br />John Oxian, president of the commission, brought the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Commission members present were: John Oxian, Catherine Hostetler, Martha Choitz, Adrian <br />Fine, Ron Zmyslo, Keri Gallagher, Richard Helmus and Jerry Wiener. Commission staff <br />present was: Ed Talley, director and Aladean DeRose, consul. <br />Also attending the meeting were: James & Janet Hunt, Rita Kopczynski, Alfred Perkins, Jeff <br />Berndt, Lia & Erick Anderson, Greg Wittling, Sara Bryant and Linda Regelean. <br />III. Public Hearing <br />A. Certificate of Appropriateness Applications <br />1. 1999 -0301 - 617 W. LaSalle, multiple restoration projects <br />Mr. Talley presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He also noted that the owner„ <br />Jeff Berndt, was present. Mr. Oxian stated that the Certificate should be placed into the <br />Standards and Maintenance Committee to discuss the details which are currently lacking. Mr. <br />Berndt stated that the proposed front yard gate is a priority do to the depth of the basement <br />window wells and the likely -hood of small children falling into them. Mr. Oxian stated that the <br />owner should submit his argument to the committee along with the style and size of the fence. <br />Mr. Berndt stated that the front yard fence would match the existing rear yard fence. Mr. Oxian <br />placed the application into the Standards and Maintenance Committee. <br />B. Local Landmarks (second reading) <br />Mr. Oxian stated that second reading for 312 DonMoyer and 301 S. St. Louis would be <br />postponed until May, Angela and LaSalle Street bridges would be postponed until June and <br />3016 Portage Avenue and 911 Golden would be held in April. He also noted that the second <br />reading for 432 S. Lafayette, the Reis Furniture Building, would be postponed until April do to <br />a request made by the City Administration. <br />C. Local Historic District (second reading) <br />1. Cushing Street Proposed Local Historic District <br />Mr. Oxian noted that the area that would be discussed at tonights meeting was Lindsey Street, <br />north to Portage Avenue. <br />
