3. Standards & Maintenance <br />Mr. Fine stated that he has to set up a meeting to discuss the gate in Leeper Park and the house <br />at 202 S. Jacob. <br />E. Staff Reports <br />1. CofA Staff Approvals - see attachment <br />2. Legal <br />Mrs. DeRose stated that the City has contracted with a firm to over haul the cities municipal <br />code. This consulting group has recommended that the Historic Preservation Commission scrap <br />their ordinance to make the Commission subject to the State Enabling Act of 1977. Mrs. <br />DeRose noted that she had sent a letter stating that the Commission receives certain benefits <br />from their ordinance and has always sought to preserve it. She further stated that the <br />Commission was not open to the changes this consulting group has recommended. <br />3. Miscellaneous Activities and Grants <br />Mr. Talley stated that he and Mr. Fine are meeting on Thursday, September 24th, to go over the <br />DHPA grant for 1999. He also noted that he needed permission from the Commission to attend <br />a conference. Mr. Oxian stated that since the County now pays for mileage and hotel that the <br />Commission no longer needs to approve such trips. Mr. Talley stated that he has sent a letter to <br />the County Commissioners requesting to attend the Preservation Round Up and the Cornelius <br />O'Brian Conference. <br />Mr. Talley reported that when he and Mr. Oxian attended a meeting at the City Council <br />concerning the North St. Joseph Street District he noticed that a project concerning Leeper Park <br />was also on the agenda. He further stated that Councilman Hosinski, wants to install a sidewalk <br />in Leeper Park from the top of the north bank where the sidewalk ends to Leeper Bridge. Mr. <br />Talley reported that he has been working with the Parks Department, using the Leeper Park <br />Preservation Plan, to have pre-existing paths installed instead of Mr. Hosiniski's proposed <br />sidewalk. He also noted that he has, sent a letter outlining the plans to the first district <br />representative, Jim Aronowski. <br />There some discussion over the George Wheelock Park and its ownership and lease agreement. <br />Mr. Talley stated that there was talk about turning the park into a City Park for use by local <br />residence. He also stated that this is new information to Councilman, Aronowski. <br />V. Old Business <br />None. <br />5 <br />
