CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS STAFF REPORT
STANDARDS
II.C.2. Recommended
Wood frame storm windows and doors, painted to match the existing or original should be used
by should not damage existing frames and should be removable in the future. If new sash and
doors are used the existing or original materials, design and hardware should be used. When
metal storm windows or doors are used they should be painted, anodized or coated to match the
existing.
II.C.3. Prohibited
Existing or original windows and doors, and hardware shall not be discarded when they can be
restored and reused in place. New windows or door openings that would alter the scale and
proportion of the building may not be introduced. Inappropriate new window or door features
such as aluminum insulating glass combinations that require the removal of original windows
and doors may not be installed.
RECOMMENDATION
The applicant has a valid reason for changing the door. The current one is warped and will not
close properly. Staff feels that there could possibly be a door that more closely resembles the
current one, but in the event that is not possible, staff recommends approval.
