CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS STAFF REPORT <br />III.A.3. Prohibited <br />Additions that would add new height or change the existing facade of a <br />building and change its scale and architectural character shall not be <br />constructed. <br />III.A.4. Not Recommended <br />Any style or period of architecture that is incompatible with the existing. <br />should not be permitted in new additions. <br />III.B.1. Required <br />Materials used on an addition to an existing structure shall relate to the <br />existing or original -materials of the structure. Also, as much of the <br />original structure as possible -shall be retained so that the addition. could be <br />removed without damage to the.basic structure and appearance of the building. <br />III.B.2. Recommended <br />Metal or vinyl siding may be used when it is the only feasible alternative. <br />This siding should be compatible with the original size and style and with the <br />materials of other buildings in the district. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The proposed addition encloses an area which is currently the stoop of the. <br />rear door. Its details conform to the requirements of the guideltines. The <br />proposed alteration of the roof remedies problems commonly associated with <br />flat roofs. None of the proposed work will be visible from the street. Neither <br />does it adversely impact any historical feature of the house. Staff <br />recommends approval. <br />DBD . <br />3/11/98 <br />
