2. Treatment Zones <br />RESTORATION - This designation is given to interior areas of mabmum architectural importance. <br />These areas will receive the highest level of accurate restoration treatment possible. Restoration <br />Treatment Zones include: Theater lobby and related circulation spaces; Sound and fight lock & <br />Auditorium and related circulation spaces. (Modifications in the auditorium will be made to <br />accommodate theatrical lighting and loud speaker along with staff control positions). Paint research will <br />establish original colors which will be replicated only if conservation techniques are not possible. <br />Anachronistic seating will be removed and replaced with new seating to simulate original. E)asting <br />original seating will be restore. Anachronistic orchestra level seating units will be replaced and respaced <br />to meet code and patron comfort requirements. Original drapery, seat fabric and carpet are <br />presently being researched at the Marshall Fields Archives in Chicago. <br />The Ballroom of the Palais Royale will be Restoration Zone. <br />PRESERVATION - This designation is given to areas of importance which may or may not have suffered a <br />loss of integrity, or the original design was not of great significance. - These areas are available for a use <br />which best meet the functional needs of the building. Nevertheless, original interior finishes and details will <br />be treated with sensitivity. Preservation Treatment Zones of the theatre include: Under Lobby area & Toilet <br />Rooms. <br />Palms Royale Preservation area include: Entry Lobby at 1st and 2nd floor and related spaces; and <br />the mezzanine. <br />REHABILITATION - This designation is given to areas of minor importance. Most have lost original integrity <br />or original design was not of great significance. These areas are available for a use which best meets the <br />functional needs of the building. Nevertheless, original interior finishes and details will be treated with <br />sensitivity. The zones of the building with these attributes may have some features of "Restoration" and/or <br />'Preservation.'
