D. Committee Reports <br />1. Historic Districts <br />Mr. Oxian noted that North St. Joseph Street and Taylors Field proposed local historic districts <br />both passed unanimously. He also noted that a meeting has been set up for January 11, 1999 at <br />7:30pm to begin the process of forming guidelines for the Taylors Field Local Historic District. <br />Mr. Fine asked what committee would be in charge of this meeting. Mr. Oxian stated that the <br />District Committee would be handling the meeting. Mr. Oxian stated that he wants the staff to <br />start on the proposed Cushing Street local historic district. He also noted that the Commission <br />has received approval from the Common Council for this proposed district which will make its <br />passage easier. <br />2. Historic Landmarks <br />Mr. Oxian stated that the three houses on Jefferson Street and Franklin Street passed. He asked <br />if the houses are a part of the West Washington National Register Historic District. Mrs. <br />Saunders stated that she would have to research it. Mr. Oxian stated that if they do fall into the <br />district then the staff should send the owner tax credit information. <br />3. Standards & Maintenance <br />None. <br />E. Staff Reports <br />1. CofA Staff Approvals (see attachment) <br />2. Legal <br />Mrs. DeRose stated that she has prepared two ordinances that would alter the Municipal Code <br />allowing for the adoption of Annexed County landmarks into City landmarks and the <br />introduction of interim protection of proposed landmarks. Mr. Oxian asked if the ordinance and <br />needed letters have been sent down in time for the Councils November 23rd meeting. Mr. <br />Talley stated that the necessary information has been sent. There was some discussion over <br />how soon these ordinance could be put into place. <br />3. Miscellaneous Activities and Grants <br />Mr. Talley asked if the Commission was clear on the fact that the restoration of the sidewalks in <br />Leeper Park, as shown in the approved Leeper Park Plan, have been drawn up and are going to <br />be constructed by the Parks Department. There was more discussion over the fact that the <br />sidewalk project has already been approved by the Commission and that the play ground <br />equipment would be moved across the street from the school. Mrs. Sporleder asked about the <br />plans to extend the sidewalk under the Leeper Bridge. Mr. Talley stated that plans do not exist <br />for that particular project as of yet. <br />Mr. Oxian noted that there were corrections on the North St. Joseph Street Guidelines. He <br />submitted his corrections to the staff and noted that any other corrections should be submitted to <br />the staff as soon as possible. <br />4 <br />
