<br />John Oxian, President of the commission, -brought the meeting to at 7:30 _
<br />p.m.
<br />II. Roll Call
<br />.Commission members present were: Adrian Fine,' Catherine Hostetler; John Oxian,
<br />.Janeanne..Petrass, and,Jerry.Wiener.
<br />Commission staff-'present .were: David Duvall,- Director, -and Aladean DeRose,
<br />Counsel.
<br />Also attending the ,meeting-'were: Cleo Hickey - Director of the Morris
<br />Performing.- Arts.. Center, Theo - Pappas and John.- Krasinkiewicz - Kessler
<br />Associates, Sue Collier, and Loveda Jones.,

<br />Mr. Duvall,`noted that the Staff Report.,,had been. read into .the minutes of the ,
<br />previous meeting.as. -a .committee of the whole -and distributed, photographs,
<br />drawings, etc. Mr. Pappas : presented .the. architects .drawings_ with concrete
<br />samples and color- pallet. He noted that - construction of the new stagehouse .
<br />would, follow. the historical precedent of the. previous structure as an
<br />unadorned functional ..form. S.ignage- -be; inscribed..in a panel - section to.
<br />identify .the. building. from- .Main,Street. The .front elevation is to be altered
<br />..by removing, the, existing..Marquee'and replacing it with a new marquee modeled
<br />after'the patterns of,the historical- original but with fewer bays of canopy..
<br />Terra cotta and other 'facade treatments- will be very.' limited to- necessary
<br />repairs. Existing windows are,to remain,,again with minimal repairs..'
<br />The plan will provide truck access from Main Street. The small pedestrian
<br />alley between .. the Morris and' Palais at ....the alley will be enclosed and
<br />.;....incorporated into the ,egress. plan for the. auditorium..' The new_ stagehouse will
<br />be 'a ppr`oximately--.80.-feet.- Mall.. It will. -..be- floodlighted to illuminate the
<br />engraved signage . which,. will be.... in .a.,_smooth section at the upper-right
<br />which ,contralsts,_with, the . texture, of the general- building - block.
<br />Temporary, signage.. at. -the rear ..for ,.shows: will-.- be . accommodated- by, mounting
<br />eyelets . behind.,�.ah_ h—

<br />af forded .,at the,,screenwalls which.- shield mechanical - equipment. Discussion, of
<br />the ,method of .illumination..for, this signage .1ed .to the establishment of up to
<br />-eight concealed light fixtures for this purpose.
<br />At the. -North side...:of, the building_.. existing •flush metal doors - .are. --.to be
<br />-replaced -,with similar -flush metal doors possessing, greater acoustical
<br />insulation properties.
