• b. 982 Riverside Drive
Mr. Duvall stated that he had sent a letter on September 3rd to Mr. Schulla,
the owner of 982 Riverside Drive, regarding the over sized lights he had
installed on his garage roof with out a C of A. There was some discussion
over the styleof the lights, how they affixed them to the garage roof and the
frequent additions of inappropriate lawn accessories. Mr. Duvall noted that
he has not heard from the owner since sending the letter. Mr. Oxian stated
that if Mr. Duvall did not heap anything with in .the week that it should be
turned over to Mrs. DeRose and that Mr. Duvall should note what ever else is
in the front yard that should not be, then have Mrs. DeRose.send out another
letter. . Mr. Talley mentioned that he has had six telephone calls from his
neighbors concerning this house, he has referred them to the liaison
committee. He further stated that this was an excellent case of standards not
being given to new owners.
c. Madison Children's Hospital
Mr. Duvall stated' that he had sent a letter after the last meeting to Jack
Roberts about the concerns that were brought to the last meeting over the
noise and swearing. There has been no response from them.. Mr. Duvall noted
that he had called Anne Carol Simmon today to see where she thought the
situation stood. Mrs. Simmon said that unless there is a history of police
reports concerning the vulgar language that the City could not do anything
about it. The neighborhood residence could, however, bring a civil, case
against Madison Center. There' was some discussion over Mr. Talley's
appointment as the liaison between the residents and Madison Center. Mr.
Talley noted .that the city only gets involved over decibels and not
frequencies. It was suggested that Mr. Talley contact the councilmen involved
to try and alter the city's policy to include frequency.
3. DHPA Grant Status
a. 1996-97
Mr. Duvall noted that East Bank Properties were in and all the notifications
have been sent out. He also stated that the very last pieces of the Leeper
Park nomination were still not in, but, that they should be in by this
Wednesday.
b. 1997-98
Mr. Duvall stated that the proposals were in, he then circulated a list of the
proposals. Mr. Duvall suggested that the proposals be referred to the
Executive Committee or the Budget Committee to go over the details of the
proposals with him. Mr. Oxian noted that last year the proposals were put
into the Executive Committee and should be done so again. The commission
members agreed.
Mr. Duvall stated that Dismas had invited the Commission to discuss the
buildings National Register Nomination with their board last winter. The
letter that was just received from them was sent as a confirmation of the
Boards earlier action to request the Commissions assistance with the
preparing of the nomination. Mr. Duvall suggested that this project be
included in the 1997-98 grant as an in house project, do to the fact that all
• of the grant money -has not been allocated. Mr. Talley moved to include the
Dismas house in the DHPA grant cycle. Mrs. Hostetler seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously.
