• motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Oxian noted that the degradation of the sea wall and subsequent erosion <br />problem was presented before the Board of Water Works at their meeting on the <br />first of this month. Mr. Oxian stated that the Army Corp of 'Engineers were <br />coming to town and that the problem would be brought before them. The Water <br />Works Board also asked for money to put bushes around the pump to quiet the <br />nose it makes. <br />B. Treasurer's Report <br />Nothing new to report <br />C. Correspondence <br />Mr. Duvall stated that a notification from Historic Landmarks Foundation of <br />Indiana had been received and that it stated that the Foundation had awarded a <br />$2,000.00 Indian Preservation Grant to the Family and Children Center <br />Properties Management for a preservation study of the Lister Platt house, <br />which is a South Bend local landmark located at 1028 East Wayne Street. <br />Mr. Duvall noted that the Commission had received a notice regarding Indiana <br />Alliance of Historic District Commissions which will meet on the morning of <br />Saturday the.11th as part of the Cornelius O'Brien Conference. In addition to <br />this the Commission has received a letter from DNR Division of Historic <br />Preservation and Archaeology granting one member of the Commission or staff <br />person a scholarship for the Cornelius O'Brien Conference. The scholarship <br />would pay registration, meals and two nights lodging. Mr. Duvall stated that <br />he had sent a request to the County Commissioners to pay his registration, <br />mileage and meals to the conference, thus leaving the scholarship open. Some <br />of the members of the Commission suggested that Mr. Oxian use the scholarship <br />to attend the conference. <br />Mr. Duvall noted that the Commission had received a letter from the Dismas <br />House of Michiana, which is the house at 521 S. St. Joseph Street, regarding <br />a possible National Register Nomination. <br />Mr. Duvall reported that the Commission had gotten a letter from John <br />Burkebile requesting the Commissions assistance as a certified local <br />government in their application for preservation funding through the DHPA <br />grants for improvements at the Studebaker Club House at Bendix Woods. Mr. <br />Fine asked if they were asking for a decision on whether the Commission would <br />be a co-sponsor or not. Mr. Duvall responded that they did want the <br />Commission to.be a co -applicant in order for them to get the CLG points. Mr. <br />Duvall stated that he wanted to note the letter as correspondence but not <br />discuss it until the Commission got to the grants. <br />D. Committed Reports <br />1. Budget and Finance <br />Mr. Oxian noted that the budget was the same as last year. Mr. Duvall <br />mentioned that he had spoken with Beverly Crone. She stated that she was not <br />sure how the final budget numbers would end up, however, she did note that <br />money had been set aside for grant matching. Mr. Duvall stated that the <br />• Commission has the bid costs in for the grant projects for the coming year so <br />the commission can go ahead and ask for the needed appropriation. Mr. Oxian <br />stated that when he had talked to Beverly Crone he had asked for $10,000.00; <br />
