• Mrs. Saunders presented the Staff Report and Mr. Duvall distributed
photographs. Ile noted that the owners, Mr. & Mrs. Riley, were present., Mr.
Oxian questioned what the current gutters were made of. Mr. Riley stated that
it was made of galvanized sheet metal in a half round configuration. He
further stated that they propose to replace it with an aluminum material that
has a box shape to it. ,There was some more discussion over the.shape of the
existing gutters and downspouts and the proposed new design. Mr. Talley asked
Mr. Duvall what style would have been original to the house, since both styles
are .currently on the house.. Mr. Duvall stated ,that the half round design
would have been the original style and that the new style that has been
proposed is stylistically acceptable. Mrs. Choitz moved to approve the
application as recommended by staff. Mrs. Sporleder seconded the motion. The
motion passed unanimously.
5) 1997-1001, 315 West North Shore Drive - Enclose the porch located next to
the driveway by installing casement windows in the already existing masonry
openings.
Mrs. Saunders presented the Staff Report and Mr. Duvall distributed
photographs. He noted that the owners architect, Mr. Lynch, was present and
that he had an amended drawing that has five windows as compared to the
original drawing that was submitted which has four. Mr. Lynch stated that the
owners wanted the Commission to consider both options presented so that they
could have a choice as to which design could be installed, being that they
are not sure which design they like the best. He further explained that the
house has window designs which match the four pattern design and areas that
• match the five pattern design, thus, both designs, follow the architectural
character of the house. Mr. Oxian questioned if the window frames would be
made of wood. Mr. Lynch said that they would be made out of wood and that they
were the Pella Architectural series windows. Mr. Oxian asked if -the door was
also made of wood. Mr. Lynch stated that the door facing the front is the
door that already exists leading from the house out onto the porch and that it
too was made of wood. The door facing the back yard would be a replication
of the other. Mr. Talley' asked if the windows and doors were combination
storm and screen. Mr. Lynch stated that they were true divided light with
thermal panes, and that the only operable windows would be in the center and
that they would have detachable screens. Mrs. Sporleder asked if the windows
would be custom made to fit the shape of- the masonry openings. Mr. Lynch
responded that they would. Mrs. Sporleder further asked if the muntins were
on the 'exterior or interior, of the window. Mr. Lynch again reiterated that
they were true divided light windows. There was some discussion to clarify
the design. Mrs. Hostetler moved to approve the application as altered at the
meeting, to include either a four window design and/or a five window design to
be decided by the owners. Mr. Borkowski seconded the motion. The motion
passed unanimously.
1997-1006 and 1997-1006-2 - 1333 East Wayne Street South - Construct a 12`X16'
addition over the family room on the rear of the house. The applicant also
proposes to reroof the house with arch shingles, replace existing cedar siding
with narrower cedar shacks, place a copper roof over the bay window and the
front porch, install copper gutters and downspouts. and add a row of
dentilation under the eaves in the front and the back of the house. In
. addition to these alterations the applicant wants to remove existing steel
casement windows and replace them with double, hung windows that would have a
nine grid light pattern.
Mrs. Saunders presented the Staff Report and Mr. Duvall distributed
photographs and drawings. He noted that the owner, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, were
present. Mr. Oxian reiterated that the staff was recommending the addition
