Page 3
In Summary
1. We feel the commission would be placing an undue financial burden on us by requiring us to side our
house with cedar siding at an additional cost of $9,144.00. Plus the upkeep of the painting/staining will be
at a minimum cost of $1,212.50 every 3-5 years.
2. With the value of our house having only appreciating 1.85% annually it will take 36.37 years to break
even on the additional cost.
3. The average house in the South Bend/Mishawaka has appreciated 5-70%, ours has not. We will not
receive any financial benefit from the increased cost of the investment. We want to invest in our home
and make it look attractive but not at a financial burden.
4. We have other projects to complete where this extra $9,144.00 can be more effectively spent. The
potential hardship that the denial of the Certificate of Appropriateness would cause us, would be the
hardship of undue financial burden.
0
