• MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />of the <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />Regular Monthly Meeting County Commissioner's <br />7:30 p.m. Conference Room <br />Monday May 19, 1997 7th Floor County -City Building <br />I. Call to Order <br />John Oxian, President of the commission, brought the meeting to order at 7:30 <br />p.m. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Commission members present were: John Borkowski, Martha Choitz, Adrian Fine, <br />Catherine Hostetler, John Oxian, Janeanne Petrass, J. Edward Talley, & Jerry <br />Wiener. <br />Commission staff present was: David Duvall, Director, Melody VanZant, <br />Administrative Assistant and Aladean DeRose, Counsel. <br />Also attending the meeting were: Dolores Saylor, Marcy Kauffman, Michael <br />DePay, Joe MacHatton, Pete DeKever, Nancy TenBroeck, William Cochrane, Roland <br />Kelly and Steve Hubner. <br />III. Public Hearing <br />A. Certificates of Appropriateness <br />1) 1997-0421, 717 Lincolnway East - Construction of Storage Shed. <br />Mr. Duvall presented the Staff Report and distributed photographs. The owner <br />• was not present. Mr. Oxian recommended making a motion to approve the <br />building for TEMPORARY use until change in ownership or until an appropriate <br />style building is presented or constructed by the owner. Mr. Borkowski moved <br />that the commission approve the application. Mrs. Hostetler seconded the <br />motion. The motion passed with one nay vote from Mr. Talley. <br />2) 1997-0501, 519 Edgewater Drive - Replacement of concrete driveway. <br />Mr. Duvall presented the Staff .Report and distributed photographs. He noted <br />that the owner, Mr. and Mrs. Cochrane were present. He also noted that the <br />driveway was a shared driveway and that the neighbor, Mrs. TenBroeck, had <br />written a letter stating her approval to have this driveway reconstructed. <br />Mrs. Choitz made a motion to approve the application. Mr. Borkowski seconded <br />the motion. The motion passed with one nay vote from Mr. Talley. <br />3) 1997-0502, 1325 East Wayne Street South - Install a new black chainlink <br />fence to the rear yard. <br />Mr. Duvall presented the Staff Report and distributed photographs. He noted <br />that the owner, Mr. Kelly, was present. Mr. Kelly stated that he was the <br />second owner of the home. Mr. Borkowski moved for approval of the <br />application. Mr. Talley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />4) 1997-0502-2 - 621 Lincolnway East - Construction of rear porch deck. <br />Mr. Duvall presented the Staff Report and distributed photographs. The owner, <br />Mr. MacHatton, was present but had to leave early. This was a code <br />enforcement issue. While the staff recommended approval, it was suggested <br />that the home owner consider wrapping the skirting all the way around to the <br />• <br />rear of the house for consistency, but also noted, this was not mandatory. <br />This was explained to Mr. MacHatton before he left the building and the owner <br />agreed with our recommendations. Mrs. Hostetler made a motion to pass the <br />motion. Mrs. Petrass seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />
