CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS STAFF REPORT
• II.B.3 - Prohibited
Nothing shall be done to-ebange the essential character of the roof by.adding
architectural features ... inappropriate to the style of the house....
II.B.4 — Not Recommended
......Eaves and gables should not be covered or enclosed.
IV.A.1 — Required.
Code requirements shall be complied with in such a manner that the existing
character of the building is preserved.
RECOMMENDATION
The owner has been directed by the Department of Code Enforcement to install
gutters. The character of the roof eaves and the requirements of the
Guidelines that this character not be altered would indicate that the only
acceptable gutter system would be bracketed or strap suspended as there is no
facia to which gutters might be affixed. Staff has expressed this concern to
the applicant. However, as of this writing the specifications for the gutter
system have not been provided.
Staff recommends approval of this application, but only for the half—round
gutter system which requires no facia mounting.
DBD
10/9/96
•
•
