HOV-17-1995 14=34 FROM SOUTHHOLD)RESTORAT TO 2-359030 P.01
SOUTH OLD
RESTORATION S,INC.
November 17, 1995
Dave Duvall
Historic Preservation Commission
County City Building
South Bend, IN 4601
Dear Dave:
Thank you for the opportunity of viewing the lovely carriage
house at 1202 Lincoln Way East.
We, at Southhold feel every effort should be made to save
this modest, but unusual building.
People who buy property in local historic districts do not
seem to be aware that retaining and restoring those
properties are adding dollar value. Fortunately local
rea.ltors are now realizing that historical properties not
only go up in value with restoration; they maintain high
values. This has proven to be true in many communities in
Indiana and throughout the nation.
It is our sincere hope that the owners of 1202 Lincoln Way
East make a relatively small investment in the carriage
house to maintain the property value. It ,Just may be that
they will invest a little more to expand from storage space
to rental space and get a money return.
One of our board members,
at the building yesterday
note he sent me.
Brendan Crumlish, was also present
and I am enclosing a copy of a
516 East South Street
South Bend - Indiana 46601
(219) 234-3441.
A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION PRESERVING OUR ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE
