deadlines and third Monday for Commission meetings) with the exception of
February in which the third Monday fell on President's Day.
V. Old Business
No report.
VI. New Business
A. Indiana Historic Sites and Structures Survey Update
Ms. Anderson read the proposed changes to the Survey. Commissioner Petrass
moved the changes be approved as proposed. Commissioner Hostetler seconded the
motion. The motion passed unanimously.
B. Near Northwest Neighborhood, Inc.
Ms. Anderson reported the NNN had purchased a house on Lincolnway West for a
Neighborhood Partnership Center. They plan on rehabilitating the structure and
offering workshops to help teach techniques to individuals in the
neighborhood. She reported the NNN was seeking the Commission as a co-sponsor
of this program. The co-sponsors would be asked to have staff participate in
the planning and publicity of the workshops. She noted the workshops were
targeted for the surrounding neighborhood, but open to anyone. Commissioner
Bullene inquired if this couldn't be used as a means of "advertising" the
procedures of the Commission. Commissioner Choitz stated the same proposal was
brought before Southhold Restorations Board and they were warned of a legal
liability if anyone were injured. Legal Council DeRose reported as individuals
the Commissioners would not be liable. She added she doubted as a body the
Commission would be liable, however if they were she believed there was
liability insurance for the County and City. Mrs. DeRose suggested she inquire
to make sure the Commission would be protected. The issue was tabled until
next month.
C. Nominating Committee
President Oxian appointed Jewel Van Dalsen and Catherine Hostetler as the
Nominating Committee and requested Commissioner Hostetler chair the Committee.
He noted the elections will be held in January.
VII. Hearing of visitors
None
VIII. Announcements
None.
IX. Adjournment
President Oxian adjourned the meeting at 8:45.
