• MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Regular Monthly Meeting 7:30 p.m. May 17, 1993 I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p,m. 7th Floor, County Commissioner's Conference Room, County -City Building II. Roll Call Members Present: Mrs. Martha Choitz, Mr. Jed Eide, Ms. Catherine Hostetler, Mr. John Oxian, Ms, Jewel Van Dalsen, Mrs. Joann Sporleder, Members Absent: Mrs, Janeanne Petrass. Staff Present: Fred Holycross--Director; Chip Frederick --Administrative Assistant. Also Present: Aladean DeRose--Deputy City Attorney, Marsha Stevenson --Riverside Drive Liaison, Ed Talley --Riverside Drive Liaison,Ron and Liz Farr (740 Bronson). III. Public Hearing A. Certificates of Appropriateness. 1. 740 Bronson -- Edgewater Place LHD Mr. Holycross read the staff report describing the proposed project: installation of a 36" x 48" fixed pane window of 1" insulated glass in south corner of the east facade of house. Staff recommended that the HPC approve the application as submitted; the proposal does not violate district standards and proposes a renovation that would match the existing window in the addition. Mr. Farr, the owner of the property, stated that there was a window in this location when he began renovating this addition to the house; he closed the opening at that time. Mr. Eide moved that therp oposal be approved as submitted. Ms_ Van Dalsen seconded the motion. No further discussion. Motion approved unanimously. 2. 1422 Leer -- Lincolnway East LHD Mr. Holycross read the staff report describing the proposed project: erect a six foot (6') wood privacy fence (stockade type) around the perimeter of the rear yard: to extend twenty-five feet (25') between house and garage on north side of yard and; to extend forty-six feet (46') from house to garage on the south side of yard with an access gate in front of garage; the fence to wrap around driveway and end at southeast corner of garage. A gate is proposed to access the northeast corner of the yard and a double gate (two S' sections) to access the driveway. Both gates to match fencing. Staff recommended that the HPC approve the proposal as submitted; no historic materials will be removed; the fencing would surround the rear yard along the alley side of the property and would be neither out of scale nor unsightly.
